Job description
What this role is about
You'll be part of the Amazon warehouse team as an equipment operator, operating order pickers, reach trucks, forklifts, and other powered industrial trucks (PIT) to handle customer orders safely and efficiently. You'll use PIT equipment to unload and load trailers, store pallets, and retrieve pallets throughout the warehouse. Amazon provides all PIT training and certification for free, so no prior experience is required. The role involves operating PIT such as order pickers and reach trucks to locate, retrieve, and store large pallets of items in their designated warehouse locations. You will handle large pallets through multiple warehouse processes, operate a stand-up forklift, and safely move items using carts, dollies, and pallet jacks while loading and unloading trailers. Handheld technology is used to track and maintain accurate inventory records. The work environment prioritizes safety, providing protective gear in clean, well-organized, state-of-the-art facilities. You'll work around moving equipment (PIT, mobile carts, rolling cages). Physical activities include standing for long periods, walking, and climbing stairs. Facilities are climate-controlled (60-90°F in most areas, but can exceed 90°F or drop below freezing), and can be noisy (hearing protection provided). A relaxed, comfortable dress code is permitted, with closed-toe shoes and protective safety footwear (Zappos gift code provided for select areas).
